Very nice place to visit lots of wildlife and a great stream running down to the sea with parts cut deep into the limestone.
Brilliant place for walking , often see deer and squirrels. Lots of different routes and the dene lodge has a coffee shop open at weekends
Always a pleasure to have a walk around here, sights and smells are never the same , Autumn is fantastic with a beautiful array of coloured leaves in many places, then winter if there's a dusting of snow its totally transformed, spring is a personal favourite with all the trees and shrubs beginning to burst into a frenzy of growth. We must walk around here several times a year and never grow tired of it.
Great walk, we did both trails in one day as we wanted to see everything! Would recommend bringing reasonable shoes (not flip flops!) as you'd need them on some of the tracks! Would highly recommend for those that like a good walk with some hilly bits!
I have been going into Castle Eden Dene since I was 6 years old, my friends and I kept going there and exploring well into our teenage years, we explored so much of it off the normal paths yet I still feel that the place holds secrets.Even now in my mid 20s I still go on walks there on nice days.If you feel the need to exercise or just want to get out of the house; this is a lovely bit of nature that changes and reveals more of itself in different seasons and weather types.Just so long as you don't mind the smell of a forrest when wet.
